The goddess Mama Qucha is associated with the sea, rivers, lakes, and human-made water sources. She is the guardian of fishermen and sailors and is worshiped to calm rough waters and ensure good fishing. Mama Qucha’s headdress represents the flowing nature of water. Her golden pierced earrings, breast tattoos, and steady gaze highlight her status as a goddess. This one-of-a-kind piece is made from red clay, fired to Cone 6, and signed by the artist.
